  Reviews of Arab Research
A comprehensive literature review covering published studies on mental health disorders between the years 1966 and 2005 was conducted by IDRAAC using several search engines such as PubMed, PsychINFO, OVID, Arabpsynet, and the original electronic database compiled by IDRAAC (1st and 2nd Editions, 1996, 1999). Only large scale epidemiologic studies pertaining to affective disorders, anxiety disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), schizophrenia and related disorders, and substance use disorders were selected for the review.

Five review articles (one for each of the topics mentioned above) were written in coordination with various Arab authors, and they are currently in the process of being submitted to international journals. The Arab co-authors are: Dr Mohammed Abu Saleh (UK), Dr Valsamma Eapen (United Arab Emirates, UAE), Dr Afaf Khalil (Egypt), Dr Driss Moussaoui (Morocco), Dr Ahmad Okasha (Egypt), and Dr Tarek Okasha (Egypt). The data gathered for the review articles were presented by the Arab authors and IDRAAC jointly at the XIII World Congress of Psychiatry (WPA), Cairo September 14, 2005 in a special symposium organized and chaired by Dr. Elie Karam and titled: “Epidemiologic Studies on Mental Health Disorders in the Arab world: A Systematic Review”.
